Inspiration Masterclass
August 25-28, 2020; Santa Fe, New Mexico
An invitation to explore and expand your design processes with a four day, three night theory based design course focused on mastering authentic inspiration. This is an opportunity to identify and articulate what sets you apart, while reimagining your voice and reconnecting to your purpose. As a destination wedding designer, history and culture have been my constant source of inspiration, and what better location to hone our design skills than the gem of American history that is New Mexico. We will immerse ourselves in the historic artists town of Santa Fe, staying at a very special location to be announced shortly. To connect with and conjure our individual authentic inspiration, I will challenge you to look at your yourself and your design process with fresh new eyes. For me, inspiration comes in a multitude of forms and this workshop serves as an opportunity to introduce new ways to find and channel inspiration. As a group we will adventure into this personal work through performance, nature and experience. We will journey together in a space of comfort and beauty, a place in which you can reimagine and reenergize. This workshop builds upon principles taught in our previous workshops in Paris and Santa Barbara shot by Jose Villa and Greg Finck.

Why Santa Fe
When I started my business 12 years ago, my goal soon became to be a successful destination designer. I was drawn to the rich history and depth of culture I saw in European countries; the architecture, and art, culture and cuisine. I have spent the last 7 years working primarily in Europe, inspired by its beauty and the magic of its ancient streets. Yet every time I come home there is a deep familiarity and comfort, a sense of belonging and understanding, a gratitude for this beautiful country that is mine. As this world becomes smaller and smaller with the ease of air travel and rise of social media, I find myself appreciating the landscapes around me, the incredible familiar scenery I took for granted growing up. Here in our own backyard, there is a wealth of history and culture, as old and as intricate as that of Europe. I chose Santa Fe for the third Joy Proctor Workshop to reintroduce the destination wedding industry to the incredible American landscape, and in particular the rich ancient culture of the native people who have lived here for thousands of years. Vogue recently names New Mexico as a top destination.
Travel Info
I suggest you take a train or fly into Albuqurque airport, and either rent a car for the 45 min drive to Santa Fe, or contact the hotel to set up a transfer for you. We will be staying in downtown Santa Fe so a car is not needed, but may be helpful to explore the area before and after we meet. A $30 daily valet fee will be added to your room.
We’ve heard the dangers our lifestyle has had on our planet and seen the evidence firsthand. While air travel is one of many ways in which we contribute to climate change, it is one we have the ability to change by choosing a domestic destination and thus a shorter flight or an alternative means of transportation. Train travel, for instance, allows a slower and perhaps more special experience; one where the journey is as beautiful as the destination. As a billion dollar industry, we have the ability to make an impact, one that perhaps begins here at home.
What to Pack
We be staying right on the historic downtown plaza, so please bring shoes that are appropriate for walking. Please bring an iPad or Laptop - whatever you use to work. I would also encourage you to bring a bathing suit.
