Ruxandra and Scott fell in love with the unique charm of Sunstone Villa and knew immediately that it would be the perfect backdrop for their intimate wedding. Surrounded by 40 their closest friends and family, they exchanged vows in front of the beautiful Villa. Ruxandra’s blush Carol Hannah gown inspired the color palate of blush and rose, which complimented the natural colors of the location.

Guests were greeted with refreshing herbal lemonades, and seated in beautiful weathered cane back chairs. After entering in a vintage car, Ruxandra was escorted up the olive lined drive by her brother. The aisle was lined with clusters of potted plants and floral arrangements in stone estate urns. After exchanging their vows, guests were invited through the house to cocktail hour, held on a patio surrounded by planted herbs, olive trees and lavender. Soft linen sofas and lounge furniture made for an elegant, yet relaxed cocktail party.

Making their way to dinner, guests found their seating assignments on silver trays and plant filled drawers on an antique cabinet. The intimate al fresco dinner was held around a beautiful oak tree, from which multiple chandeliers hung in a cluster. Long wooden tables with beautiful linen runners were adorned with beautiful gardenesque florals and votive candles. Linen napkins wrapped in vines sat atop ironstone chargers with the dinner menu right below. Serenaded by a sweet D’Jango Reinhardt style band, guests danced under the stars and celebrated the beautiful couple.

Thailand Rehearsal Dinner

Verna & Tinos beautiful Thailand wedding weekend began with a Thai themed welcome dinner held at the beautiful Samujana Villas in Koh Samui, Thailand.  The stunning Villas at Samujana are so clean and modern that it was important to me to create a design that was respectful of that.  To juxtapose the more traditional garden elegance of the wedding, I suggested that we go with a more tropical style design, using fruits and vegetables as decor.  Hundreds of candles lined the staircases as guests arrived and were greeted with Thai basil mojitos.  Cotton lanterns hung in trees, and hundreds of candles floated in the pool and all fountains.  Guests sat at modern clear chairs to mimic the open and ethereal architecture.  Herbs, fruits and vegetables were used as tabletop decor nestled between candles.  Guests were offered a number of Thai dishes at stations, including salads, noodles and a slow roasted pig. After dinner guests were offered a number of activities including karaoke, basketball machine and beer pong.

Lilac & Blush Editorial for the Knot Magazine

It was such an honor to design this editorial, featured in the Knot Magazine in the Winter 2015 issue.  I was inspired by the romance and whimsy of combination of lilac and blush.  The effortless femininity created by the mix of the two colors was something I just loved, and wanted to present in an elegant way, without being overly sweet.

The bride intricate gown by Inbal Dror was a nod to the old world charm of the venue.  Traditional in its long sleeves, with a feminine and romantic deep back, it was truly the gown of whimsical bride who still longed for tradition in her wedding.  The delicate crown a top the brides head was another nod to the old world venue.  The beautiful cake by the one and only Maggie Austin was truly the star of the show.  Hand painted florals made to match the flowers in the centerpieces and bouquet were a true work of art.  The aged patina of the venues walls inspired the frosting on the body of the cake.

Bali Wedding with Erich McVey

This spring we had the pleasure of planning and designing Mel & Reis beautiful Bali wedding. After a ceremony in a beautiful Cathedral, guests made their way to the amazing Como Shambala in the jungles of Ubud for a tea ceremony, cocktails and a dinner reception.  We chose a color story that truly represented the historic venue and location: creme, green, silver and dark wood tones.

Kurt Boomer Fall Workshop

I had the pleasure of designing Kurt Boomers third workshop at the beautiful Sunstone Villa this fall.  I was inspired by the beautiful Delft ceramics, and the gorgeous blue gown by Jennifer Giffords truly brought the look to life.
