This spring I had the pleasure of designing and speaking alongside KT Merry & Sandra Aberg at the Moda e Arte Workshop in Italy.  The workshop is a photography workshop that caters to both film and digital photographers.  Here are the images that KT took of one of the looks I designed for he participants to shoot.  See more on Style Me Pretty here!

About the shoot:

The Amalfi Coast of Italy is a true dream world, and the epitome of elegance and romance.  The small town of Ravello sits atop the cliffs overlooking the coast, set amongst acres of lush terraced gardens, lemon orchards and historic architecture.  When we began planning for the workshop I was overwhelmed with the sheer beauty that was the Amalfi coast, and in particular, the stunning Hotel Caruso, home of our workshop.  Originally a palace built in the 11th century, the hotel is the definition of Italian Luxury and provided the most inspirational palate on which I was able to design.  I chose to use the history of the hotel as my muse, and designed an elegant old world look, set against the historic architecture of Ravello and ruins of the palace.

The entire design was inspired directly by the elegance of the Amafi Coast.  To highlight the delicate juxtoposition of natural beauty and the true artisan talent reflected in architecture and art, I chose a color palate of light blue, cream, gold and ochre.  Our beautiful model Denisa wore two exquisite gowns, which were perfectly paired with the delicate estate like jewelry by Anna Bellagio.  The incredible calligraphy stationary by Carolyn Jane done in gold ink on handmade cotton paper, was yet another nod to the intricate artisan details so common throughout Italy.  I chose the ruins of the old Roman baths as the backdrop for our dinner table, which I set with antique monogrammed silverware, detailed stoneware china and delicate etched glass champagne coupes.   Ornate gold candleabras and candle sticks from Classic Vintage Rentals lit the table just as the owners of the palace may have done centuries before.  I placed taper candles into the frescos surrounding the dinner table, and chose a beautiful gold cake stand for the cake which was also placed into a fresco.
